Island Trading, now led by Laura Farge-Lowe, daughter of retired president Gill Farge, has been Bermuda's premier destination for luxurious furniture and home décor for forty years.
Gill started the business by purchasing the stock from Bermuda Industrial Gases Ltd, managing everything from ordering to delivering products with her young daughters in tow. Her retail roots trace back to her childhood in her parents’ clothes shop in Manchester. Gill expanded the business after a conversation with a gentleman visiting the island who worked with British teak company, Gloster, and who highlighted the need for outdoor furniture on the island. Embracing the opportunity, she began importing high-end outdoor furniture, which led to the store's success.
Laura, who helped in the store from a young age and later pursued a banking career, returned to Island Trading as Managing Director to continue the family legacy. She is now focussed on continuing to grow the business to encompass more aspects of island living, including the more recent expansion of indoor furniture.

Bermuda Sloop Foundation
Founded in 2006, the brainchild of three sailors was realised in the form of a purpose-built training vessel, Spirit of Bermuda, to offer transformational education experiences delivering an award-winning series of character education youth programs.
Island Trading is a proud sponsor of The Spirit of Bermuda’s Middle School Voyages programme, and donor of foul-weather gear for the students.
Habitat for Humanity
ReStore Bermuda supports the incredible work that Habitat for Humanity does in our community. Habitat collects donations of household goods, hardware and building materials and re-sells them at a reduced price. These funds then help to facilitate projects such as “The Transformational Living Centre For Families” involving a significant renovation of the old Pembroke Rest Home on Parson’s Road, along with the Women’s Resource Centre.
Island Trading happily donates furniture on a regular basis to ReStore to help raise funds for this and other projects that Habitat Bermuda does on the island.
